The course, UNIV 020 (renamed from previous year’s GECT002) introduces first-year undergraduates to the foundations of computational thinking and Python programming. Designed especially for students who are new to programming, the course helps students learn how to instruct computers through programs, set up and use Python, and use modern generative AI to support their programming efforts.

This section brings together students from a particularly diverse set of programs in Korea University, including all departments in the College of Science and the Business School as well as School of Smart Security and School of Smart Mobility. Serving this broad interdisciplinary classroom, our TAs will help students build confidence with core programming concepts, ranging from data input/output, strings, conditionals, and data structures to loops, functions, recursion, exception handling, modules, and libraries.

The appointment of our lab members to this foundational course highlights both their strong programming and mathematical backgrounds and AIML@K’s continued contribution to Korea University’s campus-wide efforts in software education and computational literacy.

Please join us in congratulating Dayeon, Sejun, Hyunsang, and Jaehyuk!

It was our first participation to AI Grand Challenge – a series of largest government-hosted AI competition since 2017.

The 5th AI Grand Challenge has overarching theme of ‘answering math problems with artificial intelligence’.
Stage 1 is focused on answering text-based math questions with reasoning evidences.
Hosted by Ministry of Science and ICT (과학기술정보통신부) of South Korea, the 5th AI Grand Challenge Stage 1 Competition invited anyone from private companies, national labs, universities to participate and showcase their ability to form ideas and implement the actual running codes to encourage fair and widespread national participation.

We are delighted to announce that our team ‘AIL-K’ ranked sixth place, validating the hypothesis that the mathematicians can do AI not only theoretically but also practically.
Our efforts from this competition materialized also into an international AI conference publication about Noun-MWP.
